Communications
Coordinator
The
Boston Living Center, an innovative Boston non-profit organization
serving the HIV/AIDS community, seeks a highly motivated
Communications Coordinator. Crucial job responsibilities
include agency-wide communications such as newsletters (both
paper and electronic), advertising and marketing materials,
and press releases; maintaining and updating the agency
website is also required.
The
successful candidate should have excellent communication
skills, experience in corporate or non-profit communications
and the ability to work well as part of a team. Ability
to multi-task and meet deadlines a must. Knowledge of and
sensitivity to HIV/AIDS preferred. This position is part-time,
approximately 10 to 15 hours per week.
- Plan,
write articles, edit, and oversee design of newsletter
(2 times per year)

Develop monthly electronic newsletter, including content,
design and submission
- Maintain
and update the agency website
- Write
copy for agency website and marketing materials (brochures,
events, etc) – work with designers, photographers,
printers
- Assist
in analyzing and creating organizational communication
plan and calendar

Create and implement public relations plan
- Write
and pitch stories for press releases

Serve as contact person for all media inquiries and stories
- Support
development events as needed
Member Services Coordinator:
Prevention and Education
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, full-time with 1-2 evening per week
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee
implementation of and recruitment for Healthy Relationships,
an intensive disclosure group for people living with HIV,
and LifeLine Workshops, weekly educational programs on health,
wellness, and thriving.
Participate
as a group leader/group facilitator. Provide triage and
crisis intervention as needed.
Complete
required reports to government and private funders and maintain
integrity of all data.
Provide
staffing support for all member activities including the
meals program, dinners, social events and workshops. Assist
in the administration of member intake, needs assessments,
program and department evaluations.
Help
coordinate the management of the Peer Support Program through
recruitment, training and regularly scheduled supervision.
Represent
the Center at collaborative meetings with other agencies
and recruit community partners for educational workshops.
Required Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum
of 2 years human services experience.

Proven skill in engaging a diverse population.

Ability to collaborate and communicate positively as part
of a diverse team.

Mental health and substance use assessment and counseling
skills.

Ability to manage group dynamics and facilitate successful
groups.
- Understanding
of and ability to practice Harm Reduction.

Strong organizational skills including report-writing,
program planning and implementation, and new workshop
development.
- Creativity,
flexibility and desire to work in a fast-paced, intense
environment.
Education
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s Degree
in social work or related field preferred.
